What is Subluxation?

As the basis of what we do, and because nearly every patient we see experiences it to some degree, we think it’s important for you to have a better understanding of what exactly it means to be “subluxated” or to have a “subluxation.”

So, what does it mean? Simply put, subluxation means to have a misaligned vertebra, or one that’s out of position. In total, your spine is composed of more than 20 vertebra, and you can imagine that with one stacked on top of the other, it’s easy for the bones in your spine to shift due to the wear and tear of your everyday life.

Dealing with a subluxation means that the signals flowing in your spinal cord from your brain aren’t moving exactly as they should. When this happens, your body becomes more susceptible to illness and injury.

How is Subluxation Corrected?

Subluxation is corrected through careful and gentle spinal adjustments performed by Dr. Watson at A New Beginning Chiropractic & Acupuncture. Through a course of treatment at our office, we’re confident in our abilities to restore your vertebra to their proper position. It’s important to understand that just as you don’t become subluxated over night, a subluxation is not corrected after just one visit. We encourage you to stick to your treatment plan provided by Dr. Watson to fully restore balance to your spine.
